Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute is very pleased upon ending its first reporting year of their five year Ontario Research Foundation grant. The project has been very successful up to date as the team reached nearly all appointed year one milestones.
Dr. John Rowlands (Founding Scientific Director, Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute) is leading a team of innovative researchers who are working closely with the industry to develop and commercialize a revolutionary, new generation of solid state detectors for a variety of biomedical applications. The team is comprised of local Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute scientists as well as scientists from McMaster and Waterloo who play a critical role in meeting the overall project requirements. The approach is to identify strategic technological solutions for specific biomedical applications and to develop imaging devices which are optimized for these applications. This will change the face of imaging devices and will provide higher quality images without increasing the cost and radiation dose.
